"Just don't give up trying to do what you really want to do" I couldn't find a more accurate picture. For most, a good part of what occupies our mind during our 20's is "what is my purpose? why am I here?" Dissecting life, dissecting ourselves, dissecting our family, dissecting our culture even. It can all become overwhelming at times. Trust me, I know. BUT! There's a method to the madness. Here's how it all went down...for me at least.
As I was reading Soothe Your Nerves by Dr. Angela Neal-Barnett, an award-winning psychologist, she mentions a few natural herbs that will help with anxiety. Especially during these uncertain times, knowing how to care for our bodies (physical and spiritual body) is extremely important. Nature's remedies have always been a part of my culture and many other cultures around the world, let's dive in...

I provided this recipe for everyone to enjoy! If it's not to your spicy liking, feel free to jazz it up or down. If you're allergic to coconut or it makes you queasy, this may not be for you. Of course, it's vegan but you can always add chicken or shrimp for a hardier non-vegan meal. 💛

Food is Medicine. Treat it as such. Anti-Inflammatory vs. Inflammatory foods. Let's get into it.
With healthier burger/ice cream options available to us, like veggie burgers, the impossible burger, black bean burgers and "nice cream," it makes it that much easier for us to indulge while still being somewhat nice to our bodies. However... Inflammation can be caused by a lot of the foods we eat, not only burgers and ice cream. Continue reading to learn exactly what they are and how to avoid them. "I just need a moment to vent" It's not simply a new wellness fad. Journaling can be for any occasion, any person, or any day. There’s misconceptions around journaling that it’s something we only do in times of high stress or it’s something only women do to manage their emotions. Both of those statements couldn’t be far from the truth. Pen-to-paper type journaling will be our focus in this post.
"the food you eat can either be the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison" - unknown As we all know, many different fruits and vegetables are covered with pesticides to prevent them from weeds, infections and being eaten by insects. Unfortunately, some fruits are exposed to more pesticides than others. Below I will list the top 12 fruits and veggies that are exposed to the most pesticides and the top 15 fruits and veggies that are said to contain the least amount of pesticides.

This is not to say avoid all fruits and veggies that contain pesticides, because that's pretty tough to do in this day and age. However, purchasing fruits and veggies labeled "organic" prevents you, the consumer, from ingesting genetically modified produce and reduces your exposure to toxic synthetic pesticides. To clarify, "organic" does not mean "pesticide-free." Rather, it refers to specialized kinds of pesticides that occur in nature and are used instead of synthetic pesticides. Let's get into it... |
